TANHODA

Tamil Nadu Horticulture Development Agency has been registered as a Society under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975. The Governing Council of the Society consists of the Chairman, Managing Director, and six official members. TANHODA has been conceived as a "Special Purpose Vehicle" for the purpose of implementing schemes like MIDH - National Horticulture Mission, PMKSY - Micro Irrigation, TN - IAMWARM, National Bamboo Mission and National Mission on Medicinal plants. The State Horticulture Farms also function under the control of TANHODA.

Schemes shared between State and Centre

1. MIDH - National Horticulture Mission:

The scheme is being implemented in 22 districts viz, Ariyalur, Coimbatore , Cuddalore , Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kanyakumari, Krishnagiri, Madurai , Perambalur , Pudukottai , Ramanathapuram, Salem, Sivagangai, Thanjavur, Theni, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Thiruppur, The Nilgiris, Vellore and Villupuram. The major crops covers under this scheme are viz Mango, Banana, strawberry, papaya, guava, Cashew, Cocoa, Chillies, Turmeric, pepper, aromatic plants and flowers.

The scheme is implemented through District Mission Committees headed by the District Collectors and Joint Director / Deputy Director of Horticulture of the district is the member Secretary of the committee.

2.Micro Irrigation Scheme

With increasing demand on water from various sectors, the availability of water is under severe stress. Agriculture sector is the largest user of water. While irrigation projects (Major and medium) have contributed to the development of water resources, conventional methods of irrigation are inefficient and lead to wastage of water. It has been recognized that the use of modern irrigation methods like drip and sprinkler irrigation are the ways for the efficient use of surface as well as ground water resources.This scheme is now implemented by providing 100% subsidy for small/marginal farmers and 75% subsidy for other category farmers.

3. Bamboo Mission in Tamil Nadu

Bamboo is a versatile group of plants which is capable of providing ecological, economic and livelihood security to the people. India has the highest area (13.96 million ha)under bamboo and is the second richest country, after China, in terms of bamboo diversity with 136 species (125 indigenous and 11 exotic). India is a net importer of bamboo. It means that there are greater opportunities to harness the market potential by increasing its Production and ensuring establishment of a proper value chain ecosystem. In order to increase the area under Bamboo in non-forest areas such as Government lands, Public lands and Private lands, National Bamboo Mission scheme is being implemented.

This scheme also motivates on Post Harvest Management technologies skill development and awareness about bamboo cultivation. This scheme is centrally sponsored scheme with sharing pattern of 60:40. (Centre : State)

Government and Public lands will be given 100% subsidy of Rs. 1 lakh/ Ha for an area expansion in three installments for 3 years

Private lands will be given 50% subsidy of Rs. 50,000/Ha in 3 installments for 3 years.

4. IAMWARM PROJECT

The objective of the scheme is to bring Crop Diversification and Area Expansion with high income-generating horticultural crops, in 63 river sub basins of Tamil Nadu.The project started implementation during the year 2007 – 08, as 1st Phase in 9 sub-basins and extended in 2008 – 09 as II phase in 16 sub basins, and as III phase in 30 sub basins during 2009-10 and in 5 sub basins in 2011-12 as phase IV and final phase as phase IV-2 in one sub basin. Totally 61 sub basins have been covered till date

Besides providing planting materials, inputs development of irrigation infrastructure like Drip & Sprinklers by AED & Agriculture Marketing facilities, etc will be made available to the farmers by convergence with line-departments.

5. State Horticulture Farms

தமிழ்நாட்டில், தோட்டக்கலை மற்றும் மலைப்பயிர்கள் துறையின் கீழ் 35 மாவட்டங்களில் 78 அரசு தோட்டக்கலை பண்ணைகள் மற்றும் 24 பூங்காக்கள் செயல்பட்டுவருகின்றன. இனத்தூய்மையான மற்றும் தரமான நடவுச்செடிகளை விவசாயிகளுக்கு நியாயமான விலையில் விநியோகம் செய்வதே அரசு தோட்டக்கலை பண்ணைகளின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும். இப்பண்ணைகள் விவசாயிகளுக்கு சமீபத்திய தொழில் நுட்பங்களை உள்ளடக்கிய மாதிரி செயல் விளக்கமையங்களாகதிகழ்கின்றன. பூங்காக்கள் பொது மக்களுக்கு பொழுது போக்குமையங்களாகதிகழ்வதுடன், தாவரவியல் மாணவர்களுக்கு பயிலும்களங்களாகவும் விளங்குகின்றன. 2020-21 ஆம் அண்டில் 35.64 கோடி நடவுச்செடிகள் உற்பத்தி செய்யப்பட்டு விவசாயிகளக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
