Registration Certificate for Importing Horticulture plants

An import license is a document issued by a national government authorizing the importation of certain goods into its territory. Import licenses specifies the volume of imports allowed, and the total volume allowed should not exceed the quota. Government / The Department may put certain restrictions on what is imported as well as the amount of imported goods and services.

Government of India has fixed Commissioner of Horticulture and Plantation crops/DA/NSC to Issue Registration Certificate for import of seed and planting materials.

Government of India, as per New policy on seed Development under clause 4.4.4. has mentioned that seed growers can register with State Department of Horticulture for import of seeds and Planting materials. The registration once under taken would be valid for 3 years subject to establishment of Post Entry Quarantine (PEQ) as prescribed by the PPA, by the importer.

In continuation of the above order, the Certificate of registration is being issued by Department of Horticulture and Plantation crops since 2005.So far 129 Registration certificates have been issued. For the list of Plants permitted for import refer plant entry quarantine website.
